Our Story

What do we love?

Being able to apply our deep knowledge of user experience, library science, information design, and social experiences to delivering strategic, real-world results.

We posses a deep respect for libraries. May not make much sense to you now; but, our knowledge comes from understanding the way things were done and it all started in Library Science. We reference the past when we design new methods for content and data modeling. It's in our DNA.

What does that mean?

It means that we design the perfect solutions for your organization. Really. We are a team of super passionate and creative folks who want to build a content strategy that can impact your bottom line.

We have notable subject matter expertise in the fields of content strategy, taxonomy, ontology, metadata, tagging, and information architecture development.

We strive to dig deeper and realize the potential in designing a "tool-kit" for your content strategy. We're not afraid of monster taxonomies or wimpy ones, by the way. We'll get yours right for your business.

What's our experience?

We've worked in the fields of "information science" and "user experience" for over 15 years. We were one of the first to build taxonomies for the web. We invented the work as we did the work, creating best practices, publishing articles, speaking at industry/trade events, and even being awarded patents.

We also partner with some pretty elite folks in the technology and creative services fields, when necessary. The technology folks like to get under the hood to examine your technical environment and co-design taxonomy and search solutions for your organization. The creative folks like to shape the big thinking for your marketing or employee experiences and design simple and meaningul content experiences. And, we all work together every step of the way.

Yeah. Really!

Why do we focus on tailoring the service for your organization?

To solve your business challenge, we need to really understand What you're trying to accomplish and Why so that we can provide the How. We will build a content strategy for your external-customer facing or internal-employee facing sites using similar techniques, while looking through two very different lenses.

Customer experiences

Customers need to be able to find your products & services.

Sometimes customers already have a relationship with your organization, and in those cases we focus on building a content experience that is informative and engaging. Sometimes customers and potential customers don't know what they're looking for and need your help. In those instances, we strive to make your product line as visible as possible to your customer and potential customer. Our goal is to make your information into a profit center.

Employee experiences

Employees need to have the right content at the right time.

They're often making many decisions at once to complete a project and need to be able to locate content and people to help them get their jobs done. Employees also use internal search and personalization systems that don't extend beyond the corporate firewall, relying on internal data that and content so they can build knowledge and expertise. Our goal is to make your information a productivity enhancement and expense reduction tool.
